CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

Course Objective:This eight hour introductory course introduces
students to the improvement imperatives of bringing about continual improvement
of both processes and organizational wide performance.
Prerequisite: None
Duration of Course: 8 hours
Course Description: This course will teach participants how to identify areas within their organizations that need improvement by analyzing data and then taking action to bring about improvement of processes and organizational performance.
The following topics will be covered:
I. Using statistical analysis
2. Flowcharting
3. Defining the process
4. Determining process boundaries
5. Determining process steps
6. Brainstorming
7. Discipline problem solving
8. Describing the problem
9. Containment and short-term corrective action
10. Defining and verifying root causes
11. Implementing corrective actions
12. Verifying effectiveness
13. Preventing recurring problems
Students will draft procedures that describe methods to bring about improvement within their organizations, identify specific action steps that must be corrected, measure the results of the actions taken and then measure the improvement.
